Carbon capture and storage (CCS) holds the promise of making fossil fuels like coal virtually carbon neutral. With such a plentiful and reliable supply of coal the world over, access to affordable and dependable electricity could be contingent upon our ability to make the most of this fuel source while minimizing its impact on the environment.

With the additional benefits offered by enhanced oil recovery and the preserved value of existing energy infrastructure, CCS could make it possible to truly utilize coal – and other fossil fuels – in the most responsible manner possible.
