About Project Pioneer

Project Pioneer will provide a near-commercial scale demonstration of all elements within the carbon capture and storage (CCS) cycle. The project will use post-combustion retrofit technology that we believe will be cost-effective and have the broadest application and ability to affect global greenhouse gas emissions in the next 20 years.

A unique approach

Project Pioneer will be financed, designed, built and operated by a consortium of industry partners and government. By bringing together the best in their respective fields, Project Pioneer will demonstrate the full potential CCS has to offer and allow for a fair sharing of both costs and risks.

Knowledge sharing

Every Project Pioneer partner is committed to sharing what it learns with other practitioners, institutions and academia. We believe that fossil fuel-fired power generation is a global necessity. By sharing our experience and insight, we hope to preserve the long-term viability of coal and gas as fuel sources while addressing climate change concerns.
